Slimbus: The future of public transportation

13 11 2009

i saw this online when i was googling unique transportation for mandai project. and i found this:

Slimbus: The future of public transportation

by Leo Blanco on Jun 29, 2008 at 04:31 PM

SLIMBUS

With the absurd increase in gasoline prices almost every week, more and more people will be forced to use buses and other modes of public transportation. Now, here is a very interesting futuristic concept – the Slimbus.

Intended for short distance travel in very crowded urban areas like Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan, Slimbus is only 1.2 meters wide and divided into different compartments. It can easily maneuver and doesn’t take up much space, unlike the regular big buses available now. It’s also quite flexible, and similar to a trains because you can add or remove compartments depending on the situation.

The bummer – all passengers must stand to save space. Then again who needs a seat for a short trip, right? It has a standing capacity of 50 people. Seats are optional in case there are some disabled passengers on board but will reduce capacity to less than 30 people.

Slimbus is a mere concept to date but its potential to minimize traffic in crowed cities is very promising. It’s up to the transportation committees to decide whether this will come into fruition.

its like 1am already LOL. i still have to wake up for tmr’s lecture at 7am. its gonna be a long day tmr.

CCN day tmr. :)

and BESE not done. :/

and tmr’s presentation of mandai project to ms sim, CM and DD.

no need to stress cos they are nice people. esp DD.

cruise forum this afternoon was really interesting, saw Melvyn from SKAL and I’m really looking forward to work for the cruise industry if i’m tired in the resort industry HAHA

I’m just feeling moody :/

8 11 2009

I have no idea why i’m feeling moody. maybe due to the fact that I have a lot of things due next week.

- like presentation for Mandai Project (which I’ve done like on Friday)

- Hosting Module online quiz for SSM which starts like tomorrow.( I went through the whole thing way before school started)

- Hiragana test next Wednesday( I’ve studied the whole of Hiragana like during school holiday and somehow like understood what the whole thing is about)

-SSM ( which i really need to pass my grooming cos i don’t want my hair to feel like biscuits in the end i don’t pass my grooming like wtf.)

-the Hospi and Admin talk at NTU which Mr Pang really want me to go for it– which means that i have to miss SSM and prof test 2 part 2 then if i go make up on tuesday SSM with the TCC people, i’ll need to make up for acct and MICE tut, MICE can go crash but acct tut cannot cos got BESE make up workshop-which is like so dumb cos of Hari Raya Haji

-i didn’t know that i was supposed to go for APEC  for 3 days thinking that i only have 1 day shift like might as well don’t go and waste my time there, but in the end i got like fthree days to go. and i missed that damn opportunity and wasted like almost half and whole day going for training and airport recee-i hope that they at least give me my training cert.

- my desktop keeps on crashing –although its doing okay now and i need to go get a laptop but i don’t feel like spending money on it, cos i want to wait for IT fair then buy and its like just three weeks away. :S

-i want to go donate blood at TP, but i can’t cos i can only donate like next month as i’m lazy to travel all the way to outram just to get my blood donated.

-BESE project dued like END OF THE MONTH-23 NOV 2009,9AM. and I hope that my group is seriously doing something about it.

i don’t really trust some of them. :(

and i really need to talk to someone! can someone like just tell me what to do? :S

life sucks when things just don’t go the way that you want it to be.
anw life is unfair, you can’t blame anyone. :(

Service Skills Methodology

22 10 2009

My friends have all been saying what SSM is tough, scary, tiring et cetera et cetera. BUT i don’t agree with them.

Initially I was quite afraid cos they said what there’s this Mr Goh there who screams at people(yes, there is) but actually SSM is really fun. Yup, so i had my SSM yesterday, woke up at 5, prepared and left the house at 6.40am. reached school at 7, with jacq, rach and yuenni. and i thought there might not be many people there, who knows the ladies was filled up with so many people. LOL. you don’t recognise them and you’ll like ask, eh XXX is it? cos everyone looks different with the hair bunned up, with makeup and super red lipstick. LOL. So, and we helped each other with attire, hair and everything, reminding each other you brought your stuff or not. The guys cut their hair, some even cut and shaved so much until you don’t even recognise them :D

Everyone reported to Toptable, the whole atmosphere was quite strict, I just felt that the atmosphere 充满杀气 LOL. cos we didn’t know the lecturers there, except for Mr Daniel Chia. So anyway, there were still people who were late. and got scolding, of course. Somehow the whole morning was a lot of scolding but towards the noon time is more of learning and information. very interesting, got a tour around TCA, needed to know where are stuffs located at and what kinda plate for whate kinda occasion. and I’m super impressed with the tasting studio cos I find it really interesting. very cosy, very clean. HAHA. culinary theatre is also good, I went in once cos of APAC CHRIE youth conference HAHA.

after lunch was what i forgot. but after that was the carrying tray thingy, and that was the only part that everyone had a good laugh about it. it wasn’t so tensed and everyone was laughing away. HAHA. we tried carrying bricks and bottles as well. HAHA. and I even tried to use that big oval tray to carry 10 bricks. I made it. but it resulted it a blue black at my left shoulder( I just realised only) LOL.

but overall SSM was fun and I’m looking forward to the next one, if you’re punctual, everything should be OKAY. :D

towards the end. people standing and singing to the songs.

and personally i feel that after going for such an event(cos the audience are mostly aged 30 and above), I’ve seen and know more things HAHA. and somehow i just found out that Singaporeans do not know how to follow instructions. The hosts wanted everyone to use the party poppers given in their bags and to do the popping at the same time, they were rehearsing with everybody, but somehow they didn’t follow and it went off, then the hosts were like saying, 你们这样做就不用pop 了。or something like that. but it was very interesting, and somehow reminiscing what we had last time till now. and i guess everyone enjoyed as well. 许美静was also one of the singers there. I’m uploading the video now on youtube.

Just Awesome FOODS!

16 10 2009

In addition to my last post, actually I’m wrong. cos I would be taking TWO LANGUAGES which is yes, JAPANESE and FRENCH. and textbooks for both languages cost me $102. SUPER SAD.:(

hm anyway, I found out something interesting at work. I think the westerners know how to pose for photos and their photos somehow looks better than Asians or rather Singaporeans. Look at the photos and you’ll know what I meant.

I went to Royal Plaza(RP) on Scotts for a Young SKAL Luncheon. It was really interesting. Ms Lynn Tan–Director of Marketing and Comm introduced myself and Yanling to the buffet restaurant: Carousel.

And photos were taken, like some excursion thingy, interesting cos I got to know how they operate and stuff like that. They have this action kitchen (if I don’t rmb wrongly), they cook and serve on the spot. so it shows that its fresh from the stove and oven. They serve international buffet with different types of cuisine. HAHA. Mr Patrick Fiat–GM of RP came over and talked to us abit. Its kinda cool cos management staff (back of house) get to go and eat at the restaurant, something like Club Med Bintan: the only difference is that the G.O.s sit and eat with the guests.. YUP anyway, food was really really good. and I think I’ll go back there for more HAHA. Value for $$$ :D

Photos are with Lynn and I tried using a DSLR today. LOL. hope it turns out okay. HAHA

and shopping spree with Yanling and i think i spent more than 50 bucks. :( no more money for CDS textbooks.
